In 1975, Michael J. Philbin and his law partners founded Lawyer's Escrow Service, Inc.. From 1975 to 1998, Lawyer's Escrow was owned by Mr. Philbin and the other Members of the law firm of Taylor, Philbin, Pique, Marchetti & Bennett and its predecessors. In 1998 Lawyer's Escrow was transferred to the sole ownership of Mike, who continued to own and operate it until his untimely death in 2015. At that time Shannon Philbin, Mike’s wife, who had been active in the business since 1998, succeeded to ownership, and Denny Bennett, Mike’s former law partner resumed his law practice with Nixon Pressley as the successor partnership in Mike’s law firm and a key affiliate of Lawyer's Escrow. In 2024, Lawyer's Escrow was acquired by Mid South Title, a southeastern regional title agency. Together the two brands account for 130 Years of title and settlement excellence. From now and into the future, Lawyer's Escrow will continue to be Nashville’s and Middle Tennessee’s premier title agency, serving Buyers, Sellers, Borrowers, Lenders, Realtors and Builders.
The Mt. Juliet Branch of Lawyer’s Escrow Service opened in 2015 in the Creekside Landing Building. When the new Chamber of Commerce building was completed in 2017, the office moved to the second floor of the new building. Gail Porter joined the team of Nixon Pressley and Kim Kindall later that year as an office assistant and gradually learned more about the business to help with title research, documentation, converting to a new processing system, and recording documents.
Gail has lived in Mt. Juliet since the 1970’s, attended West Elementary and graduated from Mt. Juliet High School. She has a degree in Computer Science from MTSU and worked as a computer programmer until deciding to be a stay-at-home mom. She has been married to a MJHS alumni for 35 years and they have 4 grown children and 2 great-grandchildren. Most Mondays you’ll find her at the Joy Center at Silver Springs Baptist Church at Lebanon Road and Curd Road, giving, and abundantly getting, lots of love from the Special Needs adults in the day program. She comedically leads an exercise ball drum class that is truly FULL of JOY!
"Buying and selling a home is not something most people do on an everyday basis. In our office we do this every day – but we want to make the customer feel that their experience is handled carefully, to make sure that they know that we know they don’t do it every day."
